This Piggy Says Happy Birthday

Are you looking to make a card that uses up some of your scrap DSP? This card is easy to make, and one piece of 8.5″ x 11″ cardstock will yield you two cards.

You will need:

  • 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of cardstock, scored at 5.5″ and 2.5″ square of same cardstock color
  • DSP – 2 pieces – 2.5″ x 4″
  • Different DSP – 2 pieces – 2.5″ x 4″
  • White cardstock, 2″ square and 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Stamp set, acrylic block, ink, dies (optional), adhesive, paper trimmer

Take your cardstock, and cut off 2.75″ off the front of your card. You will need this piece, so set it to the side for now

Attach your DSP to your card base front and back.

Affix coordinating DSP to the front and back of your small piece you cut off earlier. Glue this piece to the front of your card, just along the edge, approximately 1 1/4″ in. You want both patterns of the DSP to show.

Center your 2.5″ cardstock square onto the front of your card and glue down. I turned mine so that it forms a diamond, but you can keep it as a square if you prefer it that way.

At this point you can add your 2″ white cardstock square to the middle of the cardstock square. Or not. It’s totally optional and dependent on what you plan your focal image to be. Because my pig is pink, I felt the white provided a nice coordinating effect to the pink of the cardstock. But either way is fine!

All that’s left is to finish the inside! Take your white cardstock that measures 4″ x 5 1/4″ and stamp your greeting. When you stamp, you want to keep it centered so that the card front covers it. If you like, stamp a design down the right side in the same (or similar) ink color as your card base. Adhere your white cardstock to the right side of your card.

That’s it! The great thing about this card design is that you can adapt it to whatever supplies you have on hand, and it’s works well for any occasion- even Christmas cards!
