Welcome! Today I’d like to show you how to do the faux tile technique. It gives you an embossed look to your card front without needing an embossing folder. I do recommend using a scoring board, but you can also accomplish this look with either a bone folder and ruler, or the scoring blade on your paper trimmer.
I started with a 4 x 4″ piece of white cardstock. Lay it on your scoring board on a diagonal and score at equal intervals. I used 1/2″ intervals but you could definitively make them bigger or smaller.

Rotate 90° and score again at the same intervals.

Now if you turn it you can see the diagonal tiles! At this point I used a blending brush and applied a light color of pool party ink to the scored cardstock. (Just swipe your blending brush over your inkpad, swipe it on a piece of scrap paper to remove the excess, and move in circular motions on your cardstock.)

You can then finish off your card! I used Pool Party cardstock, the Quiet Meadow stamp set, and the Biggest Wish set for the sentiment.

I’d love to see what you come up with if you use this technique!
Happy Creating!
