Ombre Stamping

Come join me as I show you the easy technique of ombre stamping! Ombre means “shades” or a gradual blending of colors. For this technique you will want to find two ink pads that are close in color to each other. For both cards I used the HAPPY and BIRTHDAY stamps from the Biggest Wish stamp set.

For my first card, I used Daffodil Delight for the light color, and Crushed Curry for the darker color.

Start by inking our stamp in the lighter color. Decide if you want the darker color to be on the top or the bottom of the stamp. Dip that part of the stamp in the darker color, then stamp your image. The image on the left has the darker color on the top, and the image on the right has the lighter color on the top.

I did the same images but with Pool Party and Tahitian Tide inks. Pool party is a soft shade of blue and the lighter ink.

Here are the stamped images:

It makes an nice effect if you ink the darker color on a slight slope, not straight across.

Here are the two cards I made. It was as simple as picking a color card base, finding a matching piece of DSP, and attaching the sentiment with dimensionals. The yellow and white striped paper is from the Fresh as a Daisy DSP pack, which I think works perfectly with this card.

I’d love to see what you create!

Happy Stamping!
