Circular Technique

Hello! I hope you all are well! I recently came across this technique, and I want to share it with you. When I first saw this design, it seemed complicated to make but it comes together easily. I think it nicely steps up any card you want to make with it.

Here is the material list:

  • Colored cardstock base, measuring 5.5″ x 4.25″ and 3″ x 2.5″ piece for greeting
  • White cardstock 2″ x 2.5″ for greeting & 5.5″ x 4.25″ for inside
  • Circle Dies that measure 5.5″ & 5″ in diameter– I used the Deckled Circles Dies
  • Nested Essential Dies for the greeting
  • DSP , 5″ square– I used Joy of Christmas DSP.
  • Stamp Set– I used Wishes All Around
  • Inkpad– I used Real Red.
  • Adhesive– your choice

Start with your A2 card base that measures 5.5″ x 4.25″. (Click here to read about card bases). You want to use your 5.5″ circle die to cut the shape as shown below. I used a piece of Washi tape to secure it. Please NOTE where I started my die: below the fold line of the card. If your die crosses that fold line, you will end up with 2 separate pieces of cardstock, and you do not want that. Ask me how I know 🤣

Next, cut your DSP to fit the front of your card base. Use the same technique, but this time you are going to use the smaller 5″ circle die. My DSP was a little larger than the card base, but as long as you have it lined up just below the edge of one side, it will work fine.

Adhere your DSP to your card base.

Using the 5″ circle die, repeat the process for the white cardstock. This will be attached on the inside of your card where you can choose to add a stamped greeting.

The final step is to attach your greeting to the front. I used the Nested Essentials Dies, because I love the versatility of this set, but you can use any dies/shapes or punches you have.

I’d love to see what you create with this technique! I think it makes an elegant Christmas card, but you could definitely use it for any occasion.
