Create Cards From 1 Sheet of DSP

Hi friends! I hope your week is going well. 🙂 Today I wanted to show you how I turned a piece of DSP from the Fresh as a Daisy paper pack into a few cards. This will be a 2 part post; as I’m waiting on card stock to arrive that I want to use for 2 of the cards. I’ll post a link here to the second post once it’s up.

This is the piece of paper I chose to cut apart to make individual cards. I love this addition to this paper pack; in case you’re not aware, these are additional patterns that complement the other sheets but are not available as a full sheet. Each pack has two of these sheets.

You’ll notice that there are two pieces missing from the upper left corner. This is because I had used these pieces previously for a different project, but I wanted to show you the full sheet above.

This is my first card. I embossed the gray/white piece with the Stripes embossing folder, and left the daisy piece as is. The card base uses Balmy Blue card stock, and is a little smaller than my usual A2 size card base because that’s the size paper I had to work with. I try to have as little waste as possible, so I will often look at my scraps first before automatically grabbing a new sheet. This measures approximately 3.5” x 5.5” and fits into a regular A2 size envelope.

I loved how this card turned out. I considered using a white card base at first, but it was too white. Instead I chose Pecan Pie card stock, and put the DSP on a white mat. I did trim the daises a little to ensure they fit on the mat. I used the Nested Essentials Dies for the sentiment. I think Boho Blue card stock would work nicely as well; it would match the inside color of the daisies, as well as the leaves.

I had difficulty in selecting a card base color with this card. My first choice was Azure Afternoon, but I didn’t have any pieces big enough to make a card base. I decided on Shaded Spruce, using Blueberry Bushel as the complementary color for both card stock and ink. I used the Splatters embossing folder on both pieces of decorative paper to provide some texture.

So, which card is your favorite? Let me know what you think! The pieces I cut apart will give me six cards, and I’ll show you the other three cards in a later post, which will be linked above and here.
