Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder

One of my favorite embossing folders right now is the Distressed Tile 3D. It provides such an elegant look and upgrades your cards from good to wow! It looks great used on either cardstock or DSP.

For this card I embossed directly onto the DSP. It gives it nice texture and you can almost imagine it snowing in this neighborhood scene. I used Boho Blue cardstock as the base color, and the Sweetly Scripted stamp set for the sentiment.

I embossed a piece of Basic White cardstock as my card front, then added a sentiment and small piece (2.75″ x 2″) of DSP cut out with the Perennial Postage Dies. The card base color is Pool Party. You can see that the embossing really makes this card stand out! You don’t need to cover a lot of the card front with DSP or sentiments to make an impact.

Mounted upon a Balmy Blue cardstock, I embossed a piece of Pool Party cardstock, and then placed a piece of DSP on top, so you can just see the edges of the embossing peeking out. This puts the focus on the DSP but the embossing adds dimension to the card.

Which method is your favorite for embossing? I use all three in my cardmaking; I think it just depends on what aspect of your card front you are trying to place emphasis on. If you want the embossing to stand out, then place as little on the front as is possible. If you’re looking at showcasing your DSP, then place the embossing behind your DSP. Finally, if you want to provide extra emphasis overall, emboss your DSP.

Happy Embossing!
