Half Side Gate Fun Fold

Hello friends! This card is a variation of the gate fold card; I call it ‘half side’ because there is only one side of the card that opens, and with a traditional gate fun fold card both sides will open.

If you’re looking for a fun card that’s easy to make, turn to the gate fold. It’s one of the first cards I made as a card designer, and I think you’ll find it versatile in whatever type of card you want to create. This one is designed for birthdays, but you can easily adapt it to any occasion.

Supplies Needed:

  • 4 1/4” x 11” card stock in a color that matches your DSP
  • 2 pieces of 2 1/4” x 4” DSP
  • 2 1/4” x 2 1/4” square piece of DSP
  • 3” x 4” piece of white card stock for inside
  • 3 3/4” x 2 1/4” piece of white card stock for front
  • Stamps, adhesive, ink, paper trimmer with scoring blade
  • Dies and die cutting machine (optional)

Instructions:

1. Score your card stock at 5 1/2”

2. Cut off 3” from the front of the card

3. On the front of the card place one piece of your 2 1/4” x 4” DSP

4. Take the piece you cut off, and apply adhesive to the left side only and attach to the front of the card so that it’s centered.

5. Die cut your 3 3/4” x 2 1/4” white card stock if desired, and stamp your greeting on it. Attach to your front card stock piece you just attached. Here’s the front of my card to give you a visual:

For the inside of the card, here are those steps:

  1. Attach your other piece of 2 1/4” x 4” DSP to the right side. You can either have this match your front piece, or you can use the reverse side of your paper.
  2. Stamp your greeting on the 3” x 4” white card stock. You want to be sure it’s left aligned so that it hides under the front flap when the card is closed.
  3. Attach your white card stock piece to the inside so that there is a tiny gap between it and the DSP on the right.
  4. Attach your 2 1/4” x 2 1/4” piece of DSP to the far left inside panel.

I have a variation of this card here.

Let me know if you try this card- I’d love to see what you create!

Happy Creating!

Jen
