Hello! I originally saw this card on the Stampin’ Up! demonstrator website and thought it would be a perfect card for showing you the partial stenciling and stamping technique. If you’re not a fan of stenciling, all I can say is trust the process on this. I normally am not someone who uses stenciling in my cards, but I wanted to give this a try and am pleased with how it turned out.
This set is called the Sweet Old Friends, and I used both the stamps and dies. It will be available for purchase on May 5.

For the stencil, I used the honeycomb die from the set, which gives you a nice little stencil, as well as 8 little honeycombs. After stenciling I attached these to the top of the stenciled image to add some dimension. I’m normally not a glue girl, but just a little bit of glue was the best way to attach these, as they are pretty small.

My best piece of advice is to tape everything down using Post It note tape. Even the tiniest bit of sliding paper will cause muddy lines on your project. I just used one stencil on my project and moved it accordingly, but if you have a large area to stencil, you can cut multiple stencils and tape them down.
For the card base, I used a piece of 4 1/4″ x 11″ paper, and scored it at 5 1/2″. This allows it to open from the top for a different look, as I tend to make my cards open from the side. I used a coordinating stamp set called Sweet Words and Labels, for the inside greeting. This will also be available May 5. The honeypots at the bottom are found in the Sweet Old Friends set.

I walk you through this technique of partial stenciling and stamping in a free tutorial you can download. Any questions, please reach out; I’d love to help you!
Happy Creating!
