Hi crafty friends! Today’s technique is a fun and easy one to do, and it only involves ink, a paintbrush and water. Wait, you thought I was going to say Stampin’ Blends (alcohol markers), right? Let me explain.
I’ve heard this technique works with alcohol markers, and my intention was to do a tutorial with Stampin’ Blends. The process is to hold the marker over your paper, give it a hard tap on the barrel, and droplets of ink will fall on your paper. It sounds great in theory, right? I have never been able to accomplish this, and it’s not for lack of trying. I’ve held it at different angles, I’ve scribbled the marker on paper to get the ink flowing, I’ve given it a tap so hard I worry about breaking the barrel, but still no drops. I’m assuming it does work for some fellow crafters, but I can’t make it work.
So I turned to ink. I explore using a Stampin’ Up! ink pad, as well as using a reinker to place a drop of ink onto an acrylic block, and both ways work well. If you don’t have either, just use your inkpad and press the pad against an acrylic block. I used a paintbrush but you can use water painters if you have these. The Pooh and friends images were cut from a sheet of DSP using dies from the Silly Old Bear suite of products, and popped up with dimensionals.
