Have you ever started making something crafty just because? Awhile ago I viewed a couple of reels on Facebook (and probably Instagram too!) that showed how to make mini envelopes. I thought to myself, I need to learn that, so a couple of weeks I sat down and I did. Turns out they’re super fun to make! I could literally spend hours just making tiny envelopes. 🤣 I want to show you how to make them, and give you a few ideas on what you can use them for. Keep reading!
Start with a square of patterned paper that measures 4.5″ x 4.5″ You can use single- sided or double-sided paper. Keep the pattern facing up. Score at 1.25″ and 3.25″ vertically, turn the paper and score again at 1.25″ & 3.25″ horizontally. If you zoom in on the picture on a mobile device, you may be able to see the score lines on the paper below.

Using a bone folder, score all lines. After scoring, cut away the four corner sections, leaving the left, right, and bottom flaps intact. I used a punch to round off the top and bottom flaps, but you can use a scissors as well.

Flip over. You want to see the white side if using single-sided patterned paper, or the other pattern if using double-sided paper.
Fold the left edge over, and place a thin line of adhesive on the edge of the flap. You can either use a fine line precision glue or 1/8″ double-sided tape. Fold the right flap over on top of it to seal the edges together.

Apply glue or adhesive tape to the bottom flap and fold up to seal.

Click the button below to grab a diagram and instructions on how to make the 2 x 2 mini envelopes!
I haven’t fully explored what I can use them for, but possible ideas include holders for small craft pieces, such as dies, die cuts, tiny punched shapes, sequins or flat embellishments, small ribbon tags for greetings. They would work nicely in a scrapbook layout. Attach them to your gifts. You can also use them directly onto the front of cards, as I did here:

I’d love to hear what you use these little envelopes for!
Happy Crafting,
Jen
