Introducing Monthly Card Sketch Designs!

—

After my experience with using card sketches during the Christmas in July cards project, I’ve decided to start offering you a monthly card sketch with some of my favorite card designs!

Traditional card sketches do not typically add in pictures of card examples, but I want to include that with mine, to help you visualize it. I had thought this would be so helpful when I was looking at card sketches last month.

All card sketches for every month will be available in the menu bar at the top of my page. Each sketch will be identified by a number which indicates the month and year I posted it. Feel free to share and use!

For August, I am using the paper tearing technique, which you can find more information about here.

To make this card, start with cardstock that measures 4 1/4″ x 11″; score at 5 1/2″. (I used Flirty Flamingo).

Select coordinating cardstock with a white core, and cut 2- 3/4″ pieces that are 5 1/2″ long. Tear one edge of each piece. Attach one strip to the top of the card with the white edge pointing up, and attach the other strip to the bottom of the card front with the white edge pointing down. Each strip should be approximately 1/2″ from the edge of the card front, but my recommendation is not to measure it. Just eyeball it; if there’s a slight variation from the top edge to the bottom edge, it’s ok! It just adds charm and uniqueness to your card.

Center your piece of 5 1/2″ x 2 3/4″ decorative paper in the middle, so that the edges of your torn cardstock are showing. Add a greeting to the middle, and you have a beautifully designed card! Usually I like to add a die cut greeting, but this time I used a strip of white cardstock and cut it with my trimmer. I didn’t want it to obscure the strawberries!

Thanks for following along! If you make a similar card, I’d love to see it! Look for a “Share it Saturday” post on Facebook and Instagram starting on August 8.
